{"id":1489,"date":"2019-08-31T12:45:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-31T03:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/?p=1489"},"modified":"2024-06-16T12:09:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-16T03:09:01","slug":"sdgs-for-all-newsletter-august-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/newsletters-sdgs-for-all\/sdgs-for-all-newsletter-august-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"SDGs for All \u30cb\u30e5\u30fc\u30b9\u30ec\u30bf\u30fc2019\u5e748\u6708\u53f7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/sdgs-2\/rohingya-refugee-children-want-to-learn-says-unicef\/\">Rohingya Refugee Children Want to Learn, Says UNICEF<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Sean Buchanan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEW YORK (IDN) \u2013 The daily struggle to survive for Myanmar\u2019s Rohingya people in some of the world\u2019s largest refugee settlements has caused overwhelming despair and jeopardised the hopes of an entire generation, according to the head of the UN Children\u2019s Fund (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/\">UNICEF<\/a>), Henrietta Fore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/media\/57631\/file\/Rohingya%20refugee%20children%20want%20to%20learn%202019%20.pdf\">report<\/a>\u00a0marking two years since the arrival of around 745,000 Rohingya civilians in Bangladesh \u2013 after fleeing State-led persecution and violence in Myanmar \u2013 UNICEF Executive Director Fore appealed for urgent investment in education and skills training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs-for-all.net\/goal-3\/stunting-a-hurdle-to-sustainable-development-in-india\">Stunting a Hurdle to Sustainable Development in India<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Sudha Ramachandran<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BANGALORE (IDN) \u2013 India\u2019s needs to redouble its efforts to reduce stunting among its children not only because this would improve their mental and physical development, learning capacity and life chances but also, to meet the 2022 deadline set by its National Nutrition Mission and enable the world to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (<a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/sdgs\">SDG<\/a>s) by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to India\u2019s National Family Health Service-3 and 4 (NFHS-3 and 4) figures, the proportion of its children under five years of age that are stunted\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rchiips.org\/nfhs\/pdf\/NFHS4\/India.pdf\">declined from 48% in 2006 to 38% in 2016<\/a>.
