ICAN Slates Sweden\u2019s Decision Not to Sign Nuclear Ban Treaty

BERLIN (IDN) \u2013 The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN<\/a>), which received the Nobel Peace Prize for 2017, has criticized Sweden\u2019s decision not to sign the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW<\/a>).
Sweden\u2019s Foreign Minister Margot Wallstr\u00f6m announced at a press conference on July 12, 2019 that Sweden will not currently sign the UN nuclear ban treaty. \u201cSweden\u2019s decision \u2026 is a step backwards and a historic violation of Swedish security policy,\u201d said ICAN Executive Director Beatrice Fihn, a Swedish national.\u00a0\u00a0[2019-07-14]
