Nearly <strong>1,000 people were killed in 49 such incidents this year alone.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-zh6b0827\"><strong>Displacement and Desperation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-rn5cy833\">The <strong>International Organization for Migration (IOM)<\/strong> reported that more than <strong>36,000 people fled El Fasher<\/strong>&nbsp;between Sunday and Tuesday, seeking refuge in nearby localities such as <strong>Kebkabiya, Melit, and Tawila<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-87x5t841\">Many are living in the open with no shelter or sanitation. This adds to <strong>$27 million<\/strong>&nbsp;already released earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-x6t7y856\">Still, Dujarric warned: <em>\u201cCivilians, humanitarian workers and medical personnel must always be protected.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-feqs3859\">\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Expulsion of WFP Officials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-m0dlo4956\">Compounding the crisis, Sudan\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expelled two senior <strong>World Food Program (WFP)<\/strong>&nbsp;officials \u2014 the Country Director and Emergency Coordinator \u2014 without explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-uoa7c869\">Dujarric called the move <em>\u201cdeeply troubling,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;noting that it comes at a time when <strong>over 24 million Sudanese face acute food insecurity<\/strong>&nbsp;and many communities are <strong>\u201cimpacted by famine.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-e5g7i876\"><strong>Human Rights Watch: \u2018Mass Atrocities\u2019 and Ethnic Targeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ebxkm882\">A separate investigation by <strong>Human Rights Watch (HRW)<\/strong> described <strong>\u201crampant abuse of fleeing civilians\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;by the RSF following its capture of El Fasher on October 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-x0vjh888\">Verified videos show RSF fighters <strong>executing civilians, celebrating over bodies, and mocking the wounded.<\/strong>&nbsp;HRW said the footage bears <em>\u201cthe hallmarks of the Rapid Support Forces\u2019 record of mass atrocities.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-3eb2w893\">\u201cThe horrific images from El Fasher bear the hallmarks of the RSF\u2019s record of mass atrocities,\u201d said <strong>Federico Borello<\/strong>, HRW\u2019s interim executive director. \u201cIf the world doesn\u2019t act urgently, civilians will bear the full brunt of more heinous crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-rpitd897\">HRW has previously documented <strong>mass executions, ethnic targeting, and crimes against humanity<\/strong>&nbsp;committed by the RSF in <strong>West Darfur<\/strong>, noting that these actions may amount to <strong>genocide<\/strong>&nbsp;against the <strong>Massalit<\/strong>&nbsp;and other non-Arab communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-7g1jf907\"><strong>Mounting Calls for Action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-709ac913\">UN High Commissioner for Human Rights <strong>Volker T\u00fcrk<\/strong> warned that the <em>\u201crisk of further large-scale, ethnically motivated violations and atrocities in El Fasher is mounting by the day.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"571\" src=\"https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-1024x571.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9354\" style=\"width:382px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-1024x571.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-768x428.jpg 768w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-1536x857.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-696x388.jpg 696w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-1068x596.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3-1920x1071.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/inpsjapan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Photo3.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">UN High Commissioner for Human Rights <strong>Volker T\u00fcrk<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-esauu918\">HRW urged the <strong>UN Security Council<\/strong>&nbsp;to impose <strong>targeted sanctions<\/strong>&nbsp;on RSF leader <strong>Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (\u201cHemedti\u201d)<\/strong>&nbsp;and his deputy <strong>Abdel Raheem Hamdan Dagalo<\/strong>, and called on the <strong>United Arab Emirates<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 alleged to be the RSF\u2019s principal backer \u2014 to pressure the group to halt its attacks on civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-499ay930\">Investigations by HRW and independent journalists have revealed <strong>UAE-linked arms transfers<\/strong>&nbsp;and the presence of <strong>foreign mercenaries<\/strong>, including <strong>Spanish-speaking fighters from Latin America<\/strong>, operating alongside RSF units in Darfur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-pffhb938\"><strong>A Crisis Without End<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ar5oo944\">The conflict in Sudan, now in its <strong>19th month<\/strong>, has displaced millions and triggered one of the world\u2019s worst humanitarian crises.
