Energy and Aviation Networks Undergo Expanding Realignment
(INPS Japan/ The Astana Times)- Kazakhstan is strengthening its role in a rapidly shifting global landscape, as trade routes, energy flows, and travel patterns adjust to rising geopolitical tensions. This week, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov pushed for deeper economic cooperation at the Organization of Turkic States summit, with a focus on trade, infrastructure, and the growing importance of the Middle Corridor linking Asia and Europe. |JAPANESE|

At the same time, Japan is exploring oil supplies from Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan as risks rise in the Middle East. With over 90% of its oil imports dependent on the region, Tokyo is now considering alternative routes — even as logistical challenges remain.
Meanwhile, Air Astana has extended the suspension of flights to Dubai through April, reflecting ongoing instability in the region. As some routes become less predictable, the airline is expanding connections to Asia and Europe, with new and increased flights planned for the summer season. Together, these developments point to a broader shift: global systems are adapting — from energy and trade to travel.
