Dreams, memories, and challenges: The films by special children at OUR ORGANISATION’s 4th annual film festival

The 4th annual Film Festival was arranged by OUR ORGANISATION under the dynamic leadership of Ribqa Raza Malik to promote and encourage the special children of slum area and the orphanage who face multiple challenges including lack of education, exposure, food and other issues in the slum areas of Lahore.

The Film Festival was aimed at highlighting the miseries, psychological, emotional and other challenges being faced by the disable boys and girls in slum area and in the orphanage homes.
Under the guidance of mentors Ribqa Raza Malik, Pavail Anjum and Minahil Siddique OUR ORGANISATION visited door to door and house to house in slum area to convince the parents of disabled children that their kids need special care and special favour to stand high on the ground. Team succeeded in convincing their parents and after all OUR ORGANISATION started physiotherapy of each and every special kid to speak up first and then trained them on how to achieve their goals. This Organisation Worked hard to guide the disable boys and girls to speak how they feel, think and dream about their life and family members. The Team succeeded in training these kids to make movies about their dreams. The slum area kids movies highlighted the challenges of hunger,threats and crutches. These movies include Brave, Friendship, Hunger and Shackles.

OUR ORGANISATION is also helping the children in orphanage who live without the parents while remembering the small memories of their parents.

Orphanage students with the help of OUR ORGANISATION created movies themselves.The films telecast on cinema screen were self-made projects by these students, who acted, produced, and directed it. The Films depicted their dreams, daily lives, and childhood memories. In the film Memory, a girl namely Rida recalled the tragic moment when her mother had a heart attack and died in front of her.

At the end of the festival OUR ORGANISATION CEO Ribqa Raza Malik told the audience about the challenges the team faced in the noble cause. She said few clerics of a religious group Jhuggi Taleemi Programe (JTP) resisted our project and termed it vulgur and against the norms of the society.They also barred students of their school from attending the event and even the mothers of the students were misbehaved by the school administration.

Shahid Lone, CEO Allah Walay Trust which distributes free lunch among the over 40 thousands students in Pakistan, distributed gifts and shields and dresses for their performance.

Shahid Lone also praised the excellent service provided by OUR ORGANISATION to the students of low background. He hoped this philanthropic work would enable students stand at their own feet and they would create big names for their parents and the country.
