INPS Japanは、ローマ教皇庁人間開発のための部署が１１月１０・１１両日に主催した国際シンポジウム「核兵器なき世界と統合的な軍縮に向けての展望」を取材した。浅霧勝浩理事長はラメシュ・ジャウラIDN編集長とバチカンで合流し、「核時代平和財団」の事業責任者リック・ウェイマン氏をはじめ、主な参加者とのインタビューや会議の様子を記事並びに映像に収録した。
ウェイマン氏は、核兵器の保有そのものを明確に否定したフランシスコ教皇の公式見解をはじめ、この会議が世界のカトリック教徒に与えるインパクトは大きいと語った。今回のバチカン会議は、「統合的軍縮」と「総合的な開発」の間のつながりに焦点を当てるとともに、「開発」・「軍縮」・「平和」の間の関連性を協議すべく、世界各地から宗教指導者、市民社会、諸政府、国際機関、著名な学者、ノーベル平和賞受賞者、学生代表をバチカン市国に招いた。
INPS Japan covered the international symposium “Prospects for a World Free from Nuclear Weapons and for Integral Disarmament,” hosted by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development on November 10 and 11. INPS Japan President Katsuhiro Asagiri joined IDN Editor-in-Chief Ramesh Jaura at the Vatican, where they conducted interviews with key participants, including Rick Wayman, Director of Programs at the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, and recorded the proceedings in both articles and video.
Wayman said the conference would have a significant impact on Catholics around the world, particularly in light of Pope Francis’s official position clearly rejecting the very possession of nuclear weapons. The Vatican conference focused on the connection between “integral disarmament” and “integral development,” and brought together religious leaders, civil society representatives, governments, international organizations, eminent scholars, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, and student representatives from around the world to Vatican City to discuss the links between development, disarmament, and peace.
